The "Life Purpose" statement I wrote in 2012 said, "my purpose, my reason to get up every morning, is to provide inspiration and encouragement to Boomers and Beyond to believe that living our best life is possible, even as we age!" The Hey, Boomer Show and the What's Next workshop are both designed to help you live your best possible life as you transition to your next act.
How do I know this is possible? Most recently, I was laid off on March 23, 2020, as the pandemic was shutting us down. I asked myself what I wanted to do and how I wanted to feel.
I wanted to feel relevant! I wanted to feel that I mattered! I wanted to know that I could still make a difference! And over the past 2 years, I have reinforced those feelings and beliefs, and now I want to help you feel these feelings also.
I have spent a lifetime of reinvention. I have a degree in Computer Science from UNC-Asheville, a Certificate in Change Leadership from Georgetown University, and I am Certified as a Professional Coach through iPEC (Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching) and as an Associate Certified Coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Let's work together as you answer the question for yourself ... What's Next?
This workshop is for you if...
You are worried about becoming a couch potato.
You fear that you will no longer be relevant, no longer be needed.
You have no idea what you will do next?
You fear that you will be bored.
You have always dreamt of doing (fill in your dream) and you wonder if you can still do it.
Is there still time to do it?
You have wanted to get back to a healthier lifestyle but have not had time.
Not sure you can do this? I've got a story for you...
When I met Sheila, she was ready to make some changes. She was frustrated with not having a direction, with feeling like time was ticking and she was wasting it. She was commited to doing the work and digging deep to uncover some of her strengths and desires that had been sitting on the shelf for too long.
Sheila always loved working with children. She had been a teacher, worked in private settings with highly disabled children, and she had been retired for a few years.
Working together she knew that she wanted to rekindle her creative side and use her creativity to bring out the best in children. She decided to explore puppetry.
In her own words, here is what she said she got out of going through the "What's Next program.
"What were my biggest take-aways?" I realized I was emotionally strong and resilient. I was smarter than I gave myself credit for. I realized my ability to connect with people using humor, empathy and support were some of my strengths I had taken for granted. I learned how my inner critic holds me back from accomplishing the things I still want to do.
I rediscovered somethings about myself that I had forgotten or taken for granted and discovered new ones that I had not considered. My time with Wendy helped me to see myself in a new light and value my worth as a seasoned woman who is not done with life."
